That my friend is what makes this bullet sooooo special. I has little rocket boosters that kick in at 200yds.

(sarcasm)

And sorry I have a 300 RUM not a 330, can't believe nobody called me on that one!!!

I've not tried the new Hornady bullets yet, probably won't. Why? Well... I think they're some marginal improvement, but mostly hype to make some $. I note that Hornady's comparison figures have snookered many - they zero their new load at 200 yards, then compare its 300 yards drop to a 150RN... zeroed at only 100. C'mon, that's just plain deceptive. If you need to do that to sell your bullets... hmmm...

I think the new bullet will give improvement on shots that are marginal with a 30-30 - that is, 200plus - but they've STILL long shots with a 30-30. I think that for the vast majority of guys using the 30-30s the way most do, the new bullets are all hype and will make no diff. It sure won't turn the 30-30 into a .30-06 or .270

Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Its pretty easy to adjust the zero to compare apples to apples.  And your kind of missing the picture here.  The Hornady's hit well within a deers vitals from muzzle to about 250yds, and little compensation to keep it there at 300.  Compared to the flat-nosed bullets that are well out of the goods at 200 and a crap shoot after that.

If you can't see the difference and the improvement in the new Hornady's you just flat out don't want to. ;)

But one should wonder - why didn't Hornady supply apples-to-apples info in the first place? Why the need to gild the lily?

If you zero your scoped Marlin w/150gr RN at 180 yards, the bullet will rise a max of 3" above line of sight (at about 100 yards) and won't drop more than 3" below LOS until it passes 210. This is figuring a velocity of 2270 (keeping it honest, 20" barrel). So, I DO see the difference: it looks like the new bullets gain you 40-50 yards, or thereabouts.

Cool. I've never shot a deer past about 90 yards. If I start hunting fields, I might buy the new ammo - or more likely, just get a .270 & get a reach of around 300 yards before I need to worry about bullet drop (and I prob shouldn't be shooting at deer that far)
