great job, congratulations.   ;D
A bad day of hunting is better than a good day at the golf course.

Way to go, handi243!
Sounds like you made an excellent shot. Handgun hunting can become addictive.
I really enjoy handgun hunting, especially with a revolver.
Congratulations!

Gee, and I read all the time that a .357 revolver is inadequate for deer.   ???   Guess you forgot to tell the deer that!  Great experience shooting your first handgun deer, you'll treasure that memory the rest of your life.   ;D

Are you sure that's what you read? Or is it, that the .357 magnum is minimal for deer?

Positive, what have you been reading?  I have read many posts on GBO and in other forums stating that the poster believed the .357 has no business being used on deer.  Yes, some others consider it minimal, and some consider it more than adequate.

Sounds like a personal opinion?  I find it funny, that most see it the way you see it? I think you're reading something into this, that's not there? What I've read is that most hunters consider it not their chioise for deer.

I am looking for a handgun to hunt deer with.  I Like accuracy of .357 (had a mod. 19) but something makes me wonder.  Everyone, including my dad, who was shot by a Kraut in Normandy after he shot him with M1 Carbine, always told me that the M1 Carbine round was not very powerful, in fact many states don't allow it to hunt deer.  But in ballistic charts it shows Carbine round faster by about 500fps.  and more energy by about 200ft.lbs.  In fact it has a little more energy than .44mag.
I got rid of my M1 carbine years ago because I thought it was eniemic, but after looking at charts and hearing about clean kills with .357 and .44 it makes me wonder.
I realize that the barrell is longer but if state game regulators allow .357 and .44 for deer hunting, why not M1 carbine?
