new power supply for my press
« on: December 13, 2006, 08:56:59 PM »
I think this has been done before but I just had to.  I was surprised when my 5 yr old wanted to help.  We deprimed and sized about 300 .40 S&W cases together.  Then he took over on a box of 41 mags I was preparing.  Great way to spend a zero degree afternoon.

So far he isn't all that interested in shooting though he likes to go to the range with me.  As long as I don't stay too long and it isn't too cold or rainy or buggy.

Good for you and him.  He's the future of our sport. If we don't expose our young ones no one else will.

My 7 year old has been helping me reload for about 3 years.
He is good at resizing my brass once I set it up for him. he loves helping with it. he also likes shooting with me

That's great!

Any chance you'd lease one of them power supplies out for a while? My arm sure does get tired after cranking that Rockchucker 2000 times to get 500 rounds of loaded 357's :D ;D.

I can always come up with a good reason to buy another rifle or revolver, but, this is the first time I can think of a good reason to have more kids. My 2 kids are grown now and have no inclination to pull on my press.

Seriously, it is so good to see fathers involving their children.

sounds like a great way to pinch a finger.
When I reload I do not like distractions, no matter how cute they are. When I am reloading and a buddy stops by with cold beer the reloading STOPS

my sons help me, too,   they love sorting brass, and i let them hand me bullets to put in the case.  the other one hands me the brass.  they also get to stack the loaded rounds into the boxes, and another gets to count them.

yup, fingers can get pinched,  but they only usually do it once;  which is more than i can say for myself!!!!

My 4 year old loves to help me de-prime and size , something about the way it goes ( Tink ) when the spent primer pops out .

And i can even get her to help in the yard too.
