According to Hornady, 36.7gr W296 will put you right on the money @ 1,800 ft/sec.

I'm shooting 230 grain fmj in my 454 for plinking.
I'm using 32 grains of wc820(h110)
w296 and h110 use approximately the same data, and I believe they are actually the same powders just repackaged.
most data for 454 uses bullets closer to 300 grains, but 45 acp 230 grain fmj are fantastic for plinking.
I grab mine from jeff at gibrass for $60 per thousand, only a few cents more than most cheaper cast bullets.

You shouldnt have any problem getting there when working up safely.I saw xtp.Hornady makes a great 300 grain bullet that is really tough.Over 1600 fps.Factory ammo. Not reloaded.
I didn''t do it and whoever said I did is lieing!!

1badmagnum,

If you haven't already, you may want to clock your WC-820 loads.  I have 16 pounds of it and this powder acts a whole bunch more like 2400 than it does 296 or H-110.

I have not had a chance to chrono the loads yet,but I did reduce and work up to my present loads.
they are not much hotter than factory rounds.
I'm still 5 grains under the maximum charges for h110 so I'm definately in the safe zone.
My loads always seem to shoot really accurately right at the h110 data figures.
maybe you have a faster lot than mine.
I have been using this powder in 50 ae,440 corbon,454 casull,45 long colt and 41 magnum with great results.

MS Hitman is right. this powder is NOT h110. it is faster.
our lots (the only 2 i am aware of) are 13% faster than h110.
i would be careful of those open base bullets like some 230 gr. ball.
they expand in the forcing cone and cause wear. i wouldnt go over 28gr wc- 820 with those bullets.
hope this helps
