Remington Ultra Mag Chamberings
« on: December 17, 2006, 03:23:25 PM »
I don't know why Ruger hasn't chambered their Number 1 for the RUM calibers.

It seems to me that this would be a great platform to get a long barrel and keep the overall rifle length very manageable.

What do you folks think of this?

Thanks!

The RUM as well as the WSSM's just didn't take off as some hoped.  You'll see Ruger not chambering these in thier bolt guns becasue of lack of sales.  With the #1, the platform is the same regardless of cartridge length unlike a bolt action where the reciever is designed and built for the lenth of the cartridge.  So be it a magnum length cartridge or a short action cartridge, in a #1 it's all the same.  Only the bbl length is differant and even then there's little difference between the differnt #1 models.
