S&W 625 Mountain Gun- 45Colt
« on: December 17, 2006, 04:58:35 PM »
Hey all,
This may be a subject beaten to death, but I'm considering buying one. (yeah, even with the mousehole in the frame) It strikes me as a perfect "desert walking" revolver, suitable for 2 and 4 legged critters, without the report of my 357's. Anyone here have one? Likes, dislikes?

If that is what you want to use it for, you may want to look at the Tarus Model 4410.  Take a look and see:

This gun may be more use to you for snakes and critters.  I will pick up one if Santa leaves me some christmas money.
Just another voice in the crowd!!!

I have a 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt and I love that revolver. Mine doesn't have the L-Hole, but with or without the lock, they are really sweet shooting big bore revolvers. I also agree that one makes a fine companion while out woods loafing.

I have one and really like it.  I load mine with normal 45LC level loads and it is a pleasure to shoot.  Very little recoil and as you say without the bark of the 357 which I used to have for a woods gun but sold it and bought the 45 and like it much better.

Even though it is a big framed gun it seems to carry and handle nice with the tapered barrel.  I carried it all during bow season and you forget that it is there.  It was one of those guns I picked up in a gun store one day and it felt so good I set my mind on getting one.  The one I looked at in the store was a 44 which I was not crazy about so I looked until I found a 45 (that was a couple of years ago, the factory made them for sale this year).

Mine does not have the lock, but I have a couple other Smith's that do.  I really do not see the big deal about the lock.  I do not use it.
