Generally speaking, yes. If you get a Leopold you won't be sorry.
Tell me what you are gonna use it for & what you want a scope to do for you & I can get you on the right track.

Picking a scope is kind of like picking a computer monitor.  I've got a super duper computer, so let's pick a small, low resolution monitor just because its cheap?  Nea, nea.  No matter how good my computer is, it is the monitor I spend all my time looking at.  It's the same with scopes.  Assuming your rifle is reasonably accurate, it is the scope you'll be looking through and enjoying the view.  In computer vernacular, it is the scope that is the interface device.  Get the best you can afford.  Same goes for spotting scopes.  Mine is a Kowa 821M, a superb piece of glass.  Quality optics ARE worth the money!  Going cheap is a poor investment.

Oh, by the way, Leupold is my favorite scope.  Yes, I realize I'm paying some for the name. but my expectations are always met with a Leupold.  josegrande is absolutely dead right.

I have even been buying leupold scopes at gun shows that I know might now work.. Leupold fixes them FREE FREE FREE I tried sending leupold money in the form of a check for shipping..... they always send the check back. When I say it is FREE I mean FREE

When I am deciding on a scope I look at:

Clarity
Eye Relief - I like constant eye relief which means over $400.00
Weight
Size
Track record - Are people really happy with it
Price - even if it seems expensive to me what can I do to come up with the cash.

Generally speaking, for anything but a 22, I would not buy a new scope for under $250.00.  If you can find Leupolds used go that route like HH said.  Otherwise go with Nikon Monarch, Bushnell 4200, Zeiss Conquest or maybe even a Kahles.

If you just cannot come up with this kind of money the Bushnell 3200 and Nikon Prostaff are pretty nice.  Might even look at Weaver or Mueller.
