Well, Marlin is making a 35 Remington with a 24" barrel.  Dag-Nab-It! I'll have to start saving my pennies.....

Yes!  The kids may not get new school clothes next year.  I have a '50 336A 35Rem with a 24" barrel and it's awesome.  It is not D&T'd, though.  I really like the looks of the 35XLR.

As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what makes one of us happy don't necessarily make others happy.

But to me the XLRs are seriously UGLY. I don't like the short magazine tubes, don't see the need for the 24" barrels and just in general feel it's UGLY. I love the .35 Rem but velocity is NOT what it's about and that extra 4" of barrel will just get in the way out in the woods. I'll stick with my two older Marlin .35 Rems.

As an Alaskan hunter where the rainy season starts the same day as hunting season - whenever it is- this gun looks beautiful to me. Durability and rust resistance is beauty to me. I hunt almost exclusively with stainless guns these days.  Just pour the water out of the barrel at the end of the day. This could revive interest in the 35 Rem as a serious hunting round.

Now if Marlin would chamber the 356 win I'd be first in line with a check. Maybe Hornady could be convinced to build Revolution ammo too.

I've always liked the half magazine look and even altered my Win 94 carbine in such a manner.

I am one of the 500 lucky folks who got one of the special run stainless guide guns in 35 rem that Davidsons had done and I absolutely love the rifle, it shoots great and handles better.  I doubt I will be interested in the XLR in 35 but if it shoots as good as my guide gun does you can't go wrong.  I just don't think the longer barrel would be as handy.  But I do wish that my rifle had a laminated stock to add to the weather resistance.  I think the XLR in 35 will be a fine rifle if it is not too shiney, I saw a 45-70 that looked like a mirror, I'm not sure if it was factory or someone had polished it.

I've got one of those 35LTD's.  Sweet little setup .  Are you handloading or shooting factory?

Duckbill, I am currently in the process of developing the prefered load for my rifle, but in all honesty everything I have tried so far has been more than adequate for what the rifle is meant to do.  I am using the 200 grain Remington Core-lokt bullet.  I am going to try to get a load using IMR 4895 as I have came into a bunch of it.  The manuals say it will work, I'll see.  I had been using H335 and had gotten fairly good results about 1.75 inches for 5 shots at 100 yards, what more do you need out of a 35 Remington.  How about you what are you using?

I'm mostly using H335 with the 180gr Speer.  I'm out of 200gr Core-Lokts, but plan to do some loading with them.  I've gotten great velocity with the H335.  42gr will get me 2315fps.  I settled on 40.5gr for 2160fps and it shoots 3/4" at 50yds.

H4985 shot well but was about 200fps slower with the 180's.  When I first got the gun, I had a few 200rems and loaded them with H4895.  I got up to 2050fps with 39.5gr.  I intend to give the 200gr corelokt a whirl with H335 if I can get some.  Everybody is out of them right now .
