Smaller size Guantlet gloves???
« on: December 19, 2006, 02:35:14 PM »
Tom might be the best guy to answer this question as he is a dealer. But there may also be others out there that use or do something different for gloves.
Question????
Is there a company that makes the shoulder length gauntlets with a smaller hand size?
Story!
It seems all the gloves I have looked at are a one size fits all. That I never thought of as a problem until we found out that my son who is 22 and no kid any more. Can't set a #1 long spring with the gloves I have, there is to much extra glove in the way. The kid has hands small enough that the extra glove past his finger tips won't let him get hold of the dog and flip it over easily.
We never gave any thought to gloves not fitting him proper before because he never set a line just ran rats traps with me, basically he watch.
This year he took vacation bought a license and we did a week together trapping rats. I got to admit I called him a whinner and told him to stop complaining about the gloves and just set the dang traps. Then I took a minute and really watched what he was doing.
Sure enough setting with the gloves on was just not going to work. Which if you know our November water temp is not pleasant thing.
I looked at the hardware store and was going to buy a smaller rubber glove. Cut the large one off the gauntlet and glue the small on for him. I have redone my damaged gloves couple time this way.  But even the short gloves at the hardware store were the same one size fits all.

So again anyone got any ideas on this problem?

Mark,I get latex gloves in more than one size and I carry 4 different sizes of unlined pigskin gloves, but there is only one size on gauntlets.
I myself wear unlined Bemacs--I wear a pair of jersey gloves inside them ,when its cold--less bulk than the insulated ones. But I am afraid I can't help you on gauntlet sizes.
