Remington SPR22 45-70
« on: December 19, 2006, 04:28:55 PM »
I just read on Rem's site that there Double you should only use 28,000 CUP in it.Where does this fall between Black P. loads and Marlin loads. I use Hornady new loads are they to much CUP or do they just make it.Does anyone have one of these and are they worth the money.Dave.

It falls into the low end of the Marlin range.Still plenty of oomph in a 6 1/2 pound rifle. I am more inclined to go more weight than more speed in my 45/70's. The problem with double rifles is you have to use a load it regulates to. I still am thinking about getting one just because.

It does say that jack screws are used to regulate the barrels, so there is more latitude than most doubles.

Some of the Spartan single shot rifles are already available, I would hope the doubles with come soon, but Remington has been saying that for over 2 yrs now!

Baikal Canada used to have the doubles on their web site, they don't anymore, they're just "coming soon"!! ::)

It would be nice if these could be loaded somewhat hotter.  Should be fun to try out if and when they actually become available.

Looks like it would be a great bear rifle for the thick brush.

I am sure they can be loaded hotter then stated . Remington and any other company isn't about to tell you to go above SAAMI specs  and 28 000 is the saami specks for the 45/70. If they are loading the 30/06 in the spartan i am sure it can handle a hotter load .

So I understand these haven't even been released yet? I've kinda kept the idea in the back of my mind for a while. I just assumed they were available.
You only take one shot at a time, so don't waste it :cb2:
