Glock 21 magazines.........
« on: April 27, 2003, 08:29:36 AM »
I just purchased a Glock 21 in the standard .45ACP caliber - it very difficult to load 10 rounds in the factory ten round magazines.  I have owned Glocks for years and this is the first time I have run into this problem.  Any suggestions from you Glock folks out there?  It would be nice to load all ten...........

Man they are tough to load aren't they!!!! I've got three of the brutes and three hi caps. I load the ten rounders once a month and leave um loaded. I shoot them dry in the monthly IDPA match and then use the hi caps with ten rounds loaded to finish out the match. When I get home I reload the 10 rounders and leave them loaded all month. I've had the mags for a couple of years and they're still tough. I'm thinking about clipping a loop off the existing spring and trying that. If that causes a problem I'll install new aftermarket springs. I'll post the results, good or bad.

AC,
You must have gotten stronger. My ten rounders have been loaded for two years and haven't lost any of their fight!

I tried to use the mag loader that  came with the gun, but found it almost impossible to get that 10th round in with it. I just load um once a month, more than that is painfull!

I had the same problem with the loader untill I placed the bottom of the clip against a hard surface and used my weight to get it down far enough. I guess I am just used to do ing that now. I also put it against my belt buckle to get that last one in. I think I am used to it now adn it is no prob for me.
Try that if you already havent, and good luck.

There is some comfort to be found in the fact that I am not the only person to have this problem.......

while at the range tonight, I thougt about this thread. I compared the mag to a rented sig mag. (granted teh rented mag was probably worn and had gone through 20,000+ rounds) adn it was a heck of a lot easier to load. I didn't fell comfortable with the sig though. I shoot it a little better (because of the single action when teh hammer is back) but I don't think I will ever be comfortable with another gun as I am with my glock. Simple, ULTRA reliable, easy to opperate... nuff said.

I just bought a 21C and thought it was just this whippy 63 old poop.     You have restored my faith in my strength!  But, there is always a but, I will still use the loader that came with the pistol and only put eight rounds in the clip.  Hell, eight BOOMS and any nitwit prowler will run for the hills any way!   :)

COB,
He'll run for sure when he sees all that fire comming out of the compensator! Unless of course, you hit him! Try putting the base of the magazine on a hard surface and using the loader like willis5 suggested. You really can get 10 rds in there!!

Glock fixed it!

After venting, I called Glock and told them of the problem - I was advised to return them and they would repair or replace the magazines.  Well, the UPS truck just brought the magazines back home.  I just loaded all four of them without any difficultity and I did it with my bare hands!  My hat is off to Glock's service department.

Wow,
I just assumed I had to live with the mag problem in the 10 rounders. I have  several 13 rd mags so a fix hasn't been an urgency. Now I think I'll contact Glock about mine. Thanks for the info!

Do what I do... load it with nine rounds and call it a day!
If you need the 10th round to hit what you are aiming for, follow these steps.

1.) Put your gun back in the case, blame your accuracy problems on your stigmatism, and try again the next day.

2.) Eject empty mag and re-insert a new mag with 9 rounds loaded in it and try again.

3.) If you are out of rounds and magazines, throw your empty gun at attempted target, and if that target happens to be shooting back at you.
The initial shock of your actions will cause the individual to pause for just enough time for you to beat feet the other way, and make a break for saftey! (And hope their aim is as good as yours was)

This is statement is designed for humor only. I'm trying to kill another three hours at the office, before I pack the family up for a fathers day camping trip. My mind is not on work right now, as you can tell.

Instead of killing my thumbs and fingers on that 10th round, I go the lazy mans route and just load it with 9 rounds.

Happy Fathers day to all the dad's out there. I hope your time is spent well with your family!

For SSP class in IDPA I am required to use 10rd mags only and those must be fully loaded. If I use the mags at the range for pratice I load 8 and pretend I'm shooting my Kimber. Now that's a stretch!!! Truth is, you should be able to load 10rds in a 10rd mag without pain!
