« on: December 21, 2006, 12:18:19 PM »
Wondering if anybody has heard any rumors or knows any facts pertaining to the replacement of the M77 with a new model .
Talkin to a gunshop owner who's shop I frequent and he claims that Ruger is going to replace the current model with a new model.
Thats all I have , not much to go on but if anybody has heard anything please post it.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Those look nice. I like the matte metal finish on the wood stock models. The stainless looks like it has Ruger's Target Grey finish which is nice. An improved trigger too. I was in a gunshop a couple weeks ago and noticed two rugers with the ruger eagle on their floorplate. I noticed it but didn't ask to look at the rifles. Didn't realize it was going to be an improved 77. I always liked ruger's integral scope rings. Seems much more solid than 4 little 6 x 48 screws holding a scope and mounts under recoil.

Looks like a great new rifle in a great new caliber from Ruger, but at $1100, it'll be quite a while for me.

The standard calibers list for $749, blue/walnut or stainless/synthetic.  Only the .375 Rugers in African and Alaskan versions are $1095.

Sportsman's Warehouse has the All weather and walnut and blue versions of the MKII at a clearance price of $469.  The laminate and stainless and heavy barrels are not clearanced.  Not sure what this means.......

i just ordered a new 77 hawkeye in 358 win,the all-weather model.the 375 is only available in the alaskan model, that one is 20 " barrel with a hogue stock.the hawkeye is not the same rifle as rugers 77 mk II lightweight.it seems to be a happy medium between the lightweight and the standard 77.i'll keep you posted,it should be here tomorrow or the next day.i heard ruger has revised their ring mount.the older rings will no longer work on the new models.different machining on the reciever.
