Contender bull carbine barrel forend?
« on: April 27, 2003, 06:41:47 PM »
Greetings Gents,
I bought a T/C custom shop barrel off of ebay, got the barrel, looks good, but It's a 12 inch bull and none of my forends (8!!!) will fit it?  The screws are spaced too far for 14 inch forends or Pachs and the barrel is too wide to accept the carbine barrel forends?

Anyone got a rynite contender carbine bull barrel forend that they would part with for  a reasonable sum, or does anyone know where I can find one for it?

thanks,
 Graycg

If your barrel has the spacing for the Carbine/Super 16 Forend, Fox Ridge Outfitters does offer a Rynite Forend for these Bull Barrels. However what I did on my 15" Virgin Valley Custom Guns 6mm T/CU Barrel (which I specified the dovetails be spaced for the carbine forend) is I just opened up the barrel channel on my Rynite Carbine Forend. Took a piece of 3/4" PVC Pipe, wrapped some 80 grit sand paper around it, and sanded till the sand paper made full contact with the saddles that fit against the barrel. This in effect also gave me a floated forend with the only contact between the barrel and the forend are the saddles that the barrel sits on. I have done 3 of these now and it has worked quite well, and only takes about 15 minutes.
