Tikka Plastic Inserts
« on: December 22, 2006, 01:08:54 PM »
I bought my Tikka T3 last year and stuck with the rings it came with, but I recently bought some tally lightweight rings. The only problem is that the plastic inserts in my tikka wont come out so i can put the rings on. I tried removing them with a screwdriver, but they just stripped. I got one out, and had one halfway out and ended up pushing it down. They are completely stripped lol.. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it, thanks.

When my Tikka T3 came with the rings a couple of years ago, I don't remember any plastic inserts.  Maybe it's a new thing?

it was drilled and tapped and had plastic "screws" in the spot where you screw in the mounts onto the gun.

My Tikka had steel screws. I just used one of those little eyeglass (straight) screwdrivers and they came out very easily.
If your sure they are plastic plugs maybe you could try heating up a nail and melting it into the plug.

I just purchased a Tikka in October and had the same problem. Found out if take the bolt out and screwed the plastic screws in instead of out , it worked alot better. I guess the things are only meant to turn clockwise.
