New Slammer
« on: December 22, 2006, 01:21:20 PM »
I'm calling it the DODD3 "Diablo", because he had the idea of adding a gascheck to the Lee
459-500-3R.

It's the Lee 459-500-3R with a gascheck, shortened to 1.170, giving a weight of 470 grains and sporting a .325" meplat. I'm giving it a try after Christmas, using some healthy loads in my 28" Franken Classic .45-90. I'll let you know how it shoots.

That particular rifle is an SB-2 receiver with a B/C barrel shortened to 28" with a synthetic stock.

Bernie, it's 20:1.

I'm going to fabricate an aluminum nose plug for the Lee mold that will cast a flat point and, if removed still allow me to use the regular 500 gn.

Look's good, but it reminds me that I would like to get a buff barrel & cut down to 28" & re-chamber to 45-90. Seeing these posts can be expensive!  ;)

I hope this has nothing to do with Al Franken, although you could reserve one round for him.
