New 9mm - Suggestions?
« on: December 23, 2006, 01:49:37 PM »
Looking for suggestions on a new 9mm.  Casual Range work only.  I'm kicking around a Glock 17 or a Beretta 92FS.  Any opinions on which you would choose (or any others in the $400-$600 proce range)?

How about a SW910 or one of the rugers.  Any will be terrific....specially like the baretta.

You may also want to consider a Springfield XD.

All of the above are good reccomendations! Rugers are inexpensive and reliable, Sigs are pretty much bulletproof and a good investment, the Glock 17 all those things. The XD is pretty much like the 17 except for the grip angle. No experience with the S&W. The CZ is about the price of the Ruger, accurate and reliable as the Sig, with ergonomics that beats them all! If you haven't handled one, by all means before you buy, get your hands on one! Everyone I know that has handled one says it sits better in the hand and points more naturally than any they have tried.
Merry Christmas and a great new year!

Another vote for the CZ75.

I bought mine 23 years ago while stationed in Germany. It is my most accurate 9mm.

I had it refinished in 2003 with ROBARS NP3. I've carried this gun all over the world (when a 9mm was necessary for duty), and would not hesitate to do so again.

hey pard
if you are only planning on buying one get the right one
glock 17 or possibly a glock19 if you are planning on concealed carry
i carry a glock 17 concealed daily
with 17 rounds in it its still lighter than my vaquero empty
i find the 17 to be more accurate than the 19
either will last you a lifetime and thats if you never bother to clean it

I recently sold my Glock 17 that I purchased in 1988. Good gun but I wanted a change.

I am looking at a CZ85 Combat. This gun has everything I require & at very decent price.

Ruger p95 is a great gun-cheap, built like a tank, will handle any kind of ammo, never jams, easy to maintain, pretty accurate.
BUT, I still love my Browning hi-power the best

I like the Glock 19C, it is a very accurate 9mm.  Very user friendly and reliable.  However the Beretta M9 and the CZ-75 are very nice pistols in that class. XD's are awesome as well.
When an Army captain asked him for the direction of the line of retreat, Col Puller called his Tank Commander, gave them the Army position, and ordered: "If they start to pull back from that line, even one foot, I want you to open fire on them."
Turning to the captain, he replied "Does that answer your question?
We're here to fight."
