 Merry Christmas Buckmaster,
I hope you enjoy your new rifle. Here in Florida where I live that could be used for deer. Are you allowed to use it where you live?

Rusty , I am not sure if you are allowed to use one for deer here in WV but I plan on using it to shoot coyotes and crows and things that come around because I have lost some livestock due to coyotes and foxes , but some of the deer here get up to around 200 lbs so I think I will leave that part up to the 270.... p.s Merry Christmas to you too Rusty

 Buckmaster,
It's good to talk to another Mountaineer. My parents are from Princeton. My wife is from Wyoming county. We have cousins that are down here in Fla. for a wedding this weekend. I know one of them hunts around Green Bank with a .243 Encore. I'll ask them Sat. when I see them what they think. Personally as long as you pick your shot and keep them in the lungs I think it would be OK.
I have another cousin in NC that kills the deer out of his soybean fields with a .22 Hornet so they won't die right away. It gives them a little chance to walk out of the field before they keel over and he doesn't loose as many beans. A Hornet is also used a lot down here but our deer are much smaller here.
