I enjoy shooting cast bullets in my surplus CZ 8mm rifle. I get 2 to 2-1/2" groups at 100 yards with 175 grain RN bullets I cast with a Lee # 90274 mold. I use 25.7 grains of surplus IMR-4895 and have good luck. The load is plenty light that I'm not worried about pressures and it shoots fine. I cast with wheelweights and the cost at the range is real reasonable.
I encourage the use of cast bullets and mil surplus rifles. Plenty of fun to be had and you don't need to invest great deals of money. My word of wisdom in casting is, I suggest you start searching for available low cost lead. I think in the future, this will be tougher to get and the price will start going up substantially. I have been casting for many years and suddenly the supply is getting tighter and many of the service shops are either getting paid good money for their scrap or they are contracting with hazardous waste scrap dealers who are licensed to handle and document the disposal. A faithfull friend of mine can't even give it to me now because I'm not licensed to handle the material and he needs to keep close records on proper disposal of the material. Not good!
