Mounting scopes
« on: December 29, 2006, 07:30:13 AM »
Is there more than one kind of scope mount to use on a handi rifle and is there a better/best?

            Thanks,

I second that question.  What about the Dednuts mount?  Has anyone tried it?

Thanks I see now. I guess there's no preference.
Now I guess I'll have to wait till the factory reopens after the holidays.

I think brownells sells the h&r/nef mounts if you dont want to wait.

BTW I prefer the factory mount over the weaver for the mounting options.

One thing i do like about the Weaver mount is that i can cut the slots were i need them for each rifle . only takes a hacksaw and a small file .

Brownell's does carry it, but for less money at H&R, you get the hammer extension too. ;)

I don't think so, not for $56 anyway, that's a lot more than what 99% of Handiholics will pay for rings. :-\

i pull the factory-mounted bases off my Handi's long enough to Loc-Tite them back into place.   then i put THREE of the Millett Angle-Loc's on my Handi's to keep the scopes from flexing and bending under recoil or under 'conditions of brain-fade' at the hands of the shooter......such as when a rifle leans against a tree and then falls over due to my mistake!

it's worth the time and money to do it this way, in my experience.

take care,

ss'

ps:  i use the RED loc-tite only.    i don't bother with anything else.
