I've never had had any problems with Winchester brand,1oz Foster style slugs up to 70yds, the Brenneke style slug with wad attached are an accurate one especially for smoothbores. The Brenneke's might allow a little more yardage beyond your average Foster style slug, But IMO. smoothbore slugs are better under 100yds anyway.
Your best bet would be to try several brands and styles and see what your Ithaca groups best with.
Good luck,
 :) ;)

I used a Model 51 Ithaca 28"barrel and modified choke. I topped it with a Burris scope. Federal 1 oz worked best for me. I did try all Foster style slugs. With the Federals it was quite impressive and I shot a lot of deer with this combination. The second best and it was second best because of other problems were Active 1 oz. slugs. This was the most accurate Foster type slug I ever tried. This slug used to lay down a layer of plastic, after three shots.to stop anything close to accuracy. As with any gun invest in all brands of slugs and see what ones your gun likes. Check you barrel after each brand to see if plastic or leading is starting to be a problem.(make sure you gun is unloaded). It seems a dirty barrel with smoothbores will cause serious POI problems.

If I were you Terry, I would try, as Huntsman suggests, the Winchester Super X foster slugs. I have played with many smoothbore slugguns over the years, and have almost always gotten my best results with Winchester slugs. In addition, since you have a 20 gauge, the Winchester slug, at 3/4 OZ., versus a Remington slugger, at 5/8 OZ., will hit harder. My daughter shoots a Pre 77 Remington 1100 20 gauge. With a smoothbore slug barrel, and a Bushnell Banner 1.5X4.5 scope mounted in a weaver converta-mount, it will shoot SUB 4 inch groups at 100 yards with Winchester slugs so consistently it's monotonous.
I remember the Ithaca 66 Supersingle well, I had one in 12 gauge in the early 70's. I think the biggest problem you will encounter with that gun, is the ability to install some type of ridgidly mounted iron sights, or scope. As I recall, the action only has a very small and short rib on top, and is not drilled or tapped or grooved for any type scope or iron sight installation, and without some type of rigidly mounted adjustable sights, be it either a scope, or iron sights, it will be difficult to get any kind of consistent grouping with any brand slug, let alone be able to compare results of one brand versus another. Good luck.

I have had a lot of luck with the rottweil berneke slugs in my 12 guage, I am pretty sure they make 20's also.
