One source of Rmouleart's post on water buffalo is: http://ww2.netnitco.net/users/djligda/wbfacts.htm .

Also, the article DID indicate Egyptian water buffalo are proper water buffalo, which, being a part of the river buffalo group, runs from India, through Egypt (which I think is still in Africa), and even into Europe.

I don't think Egypt is a traditional safari destination...

Given the predominance of plains game safaris, it is almost not fair that the picture of an African gun is either a double or a bolt CRF big bore, with the big five being the target species.

In the category of current standard calibers, I really enjoy shooting my .458 win in a Ruger #1.  I have also gotten a kick out of working up loads, exploring behavior of different projectiles, etc, in my .458 Lott in Ruger 77.  Either are fine once I get them off the bench.

A custom Rigby double rifle in 600 Nitro Express.  Finely engraved and inlaid, with Circassian walnut stock.

In the real world, I will take a Ruger in .458 Lott.  A man can dream....
