Me too, but as long as there's a few of us it's worth doing.

I'm moving soon so it may be awhile before I modify a 5-bull target for scoring and get it posted...so if this thread slips down the page bump it up once in awhile, I'll lose internet access for awhile buut will be back.  Then I have to put in a berm and a bench.  Hopefully by April I'll be ready to shoot!

I'm not looking forward to the moving process, but this one takes me from the dreaded postage stamp to 15 acres with space for a 400yd shooting range.  So I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm popping this to the top to review interest in this concept.  I plan to be able to organize this for May.

Now if only I could find someone willing to dump a couple loads of fill dirt for my backstop I'd be ready to go.. :(

I'm in, any excuse to burn powder is a good excuse.  do we need to mail the targets to you, or just post a photo/score?
i've got a couple of guys here that would like to shoot also, even they aren't members.....would that be ok?

A postal match is when people shoot the targets on their own and then mail or email in their score, so we can have a friendly competition from afar.  It's highly dependent on the honor system though.  The rules were posted earlier in the thread if you want to take a look.

It could get hard to track non-members....what do others think of that?

Im interested, but only in the 100 yard target.  200 yards would be fun, but not everyone, myself included, has 200 yard ranges to shoot at.

If there's interest, we can hold an open 200 and even 300 yd competition.  People can shoot in as many, or as few, classes as they want to.  I'd love a 200 yd one.

Anyone else interested in the longer ranges?

I would be interested in the long range stuff. I typically work up my loads for good groups at 100 and then check them out at 200 yards to see how they hold up. I then practice at different ranges out to 200 yards if the load is capable of taking game at that range. My only problem at this time is that work is sending me on the road for the next 3 months and I will have little time for shooting. But if the timing works out, I'm in. My range only goes to 200 so I would have to go somewhere else to do 300 yards. Could be fun though.

It's better to shoot for the sky and come a bit short than to shoot for the ground and hit every time. After all, the ground is just a place to start, the sky's the limit.

For the heck of it, we'll include 200 and 300 yd competitions in the open (unrestricted) class.  I still need to find time to come up with the appropriate targets, let's plan to shoot during May.  Sometime in April I'll post final targets/rules.

Look back in the thread for the current version of the rules.  Basically, each person will score themselves but retain targets in case they are requested (via mail or scan) for verification.  This won't usually be necessary.  Scores will be emailed to an address I'll provide, tabulated, and posted the first week of the month following the close of the competition (ie 1st week of June for May targets).  We'll just continue each month.
