Problems trying to choose
« on: January 01, 2007, 05:57:41 AM »
Well, I’m having fighting going on with members in my rifle family now.   ::) Two 30-30's a 308 and a 300 Win Mag. Can you tell that I like 30 calibers yet? Anyway, have you ever had the problem of trying to decide which rifle to bring on a particular hunt? I love them all just like my own kids but trying to decide which one to bring is a real problem at times. The Marlin336 and Winchester 94 have been bickering for years with each other. My oldest member, my 308 is extremely jealous of his younger big brother the 300 win mag. All kidding aside. Do you have problems trying to choose between different rifles for a hunt? I do.

Sometimes I do, but try to decide on how I'm hunting that day on which one to bring along. If I plan on doing a lot of walking, the lightest rifle is it. If I plan on sitting in an elevated shooting house or high up, the heavy rifle that I know will reach way on out yonder is the one that comes along. If I can't dedice, if I'm gonna walk a lot or not know if I can choose my stand, I throw both a light one and a heavy in the truck and decide when I get there. Them lever actions sure are nice for walking around with and you can get back in some thick places with them without having them hang up in limbs and brush. Then if you are going to be sitting on an old beanfield, that big mag would be really nice.

I have trouble just trying to decide which rifle to take to the range on any given day. :D   went deer hunting last week during muzzleloader week. Again which one do I use. While hunting it occurred to me several times maybe I should have brought the other one ::) In the end didn't matter any way as I didn't  see any deer.  Maybe that is why we should only have one gun--one for bear, one for deer one squirrel one for ect. That would make life so much more simpler, don't you think.  ;D

Could be boring but I can see a lot of possiblities for getting more guns. Sure you only have one rifle for each hunt but think  of the fun. When the wife complains just say " now dear I know I have one rifle for bear season but this is turkey season I don't have any thing to shoot with" Bingo, time to shop for a turkey gun.  Of course when duck season comes around same argurement "no dear I cant use the turkey gun  to shoot ducks with"  I'm figuring milking this for all its worth and in no time one will have to add a new room just to house his "one gun". ;D
