hi all, cleaned out the breech plug with some solvent and some brake parts cleaner.. and then used a Qtip and a small pin... to clean it..

So I took out the TC Omega today to sight it in . I Placed a 209 primer in and fired it and spark came put the barrel so I knew it was all clear and the flash was good.

I  was testing the 230 grain Serria brand jacketed hollow points and the 250 grain SST with 70,75,80 and 85 grain....

Both seem to hit just about near the last shot with the other load....slowly as I increased the powder grains from 70 up to 85 the bullet impact of both bullet types would slowly Move up on the 12"x12" steel plate target..

The SST for sure hit harder on the steel and left it's mark behind of impact and a ring where it compressed and dented the steel plate thats 3/8" thick...

But I didn't have the plate hanging from chain on a sawhorse like I planned so it would take the impact and Swing from the force.

But all in all them 230 grain jackets .45 caliber pistol bullets at 12.00 for 100 and as cheap as the plastic sabot unit is.. they are cheap for the buck and exspand nicely.. If I can find a target to dig rounds out of to see a better pic of the sabot Hitting a sand filled 5 gallon bucket and a jacketed hollow point hitting same type target yet at a fresh new Bucket for each...as sand from first impact  moves and loosens...

I Was smiling alot, after each shoot.. it's like CHRISTmas.. waiting for the smoke to clear so ya can see if santa (yourself) hit the target got a pressent....meaning the bulls eye......

This will be so much fun and I allow about 20 second between loads.. is that plenty to make sure no amburs are hot in barrel>?.

I live in a similar climate and generally wait a minute or two. In the summer months, I wait five minutes. Don't get the barrel hot.

Busta,Cleaning..... Is the hard part....More the Dirty Job of Muzzle loaders.. YET I relive the smile on my face sitting there on that seat pad and the harris bipod exstended to 27 1/2" and slowly pulling the trigger.. sure is a hair trigger on it..

It may of been more Like 30-45 minutes.. I wasn't watching my watch... But I agree Summer times sitting with any of my guns on my lap watching woodchuck dens..the sun adds heat to a barrel,and then firing a few rounds does also..

Was scouting some today off the atv for spots for tree stands,ground blinds and places to just tuck a 5 gallon bucket to sit on this up coming deer season.... Downside..10 months away .... I hope they give us a early Muzzle loading season this deer season... so the whitetails won't be so wired when the shotguns light up the woods ....

Whats a Nice second Muzzle Loader to Try out?

I want to trade in my .223 NEF with a 6-24x50 for a extra to Help get another sportsmen Hooked in the field of Muzzle loading near me.

I am thinking about a CVA to try... Maybe a Wolf,Optima or Kodiak with the 209 Primer. Not sure if I want the .45 or .50 caliber as a spare...

Or do they have a way to Take off my .223 rifle barrel and place a .45 or .50 caliber muzzle loader barrel with a 209 primer all set up.

I love the smell of black powder smoke in the morning.
