Those things were only produced for a very short time, and did not sell very well.  I doubt most folks have never heard of one, let along know anything about them

The only advice I can offer would be to find one of the popular atv websights and ask there.  This particular forum gets very little atv traffic.

  Thanks OG,

I think they were sold for 2 years and i'm told the most were sold in the southern part of the country to farmers....

I'm hopeing that "someone" here will give me a lead where to ask next...

Just what is it doing.Check fuel supply.I cant see an atv getting enough hours on it to damage a pump or injector.change the fuel and put fresh in it,they will NOT run on water. If he ran it out of fuel, loosen the line closesest ot the injector and bleed the air out.

It did not have water in the fuel, or run out of fuel, nor is the fuel old....  He's had it to two Polaris dealers, and two respected ATV mechs. and they can't figure it out and pass him onto someone else...

It starts VERY hard and idle's but won't rev up...  It smokes blueish smoke when idleing...  the line to the injector has fuel comeing out of it when you turn it over with the line off.  There's no air bubbles and it's turning over fast enough...

Along the way he was told "low compression" so it was bored and new piston ect.. put in it.  It did have a scored cyl. from an intake bolt breaking and dust getting into it.....  That did increase compression...  It got all new gaskets along the way...  The throttle cable has been checked..  Everything apears to be in place and working.  Timeing has been checked and rechecked.

All four places tell him everything checks out and they don't know why it won't rev up...  I think it's insane for a company to sell a product and then have dealers that don't know a damn thing about it...  He's called two other dealers who say they don't want to work on it because they don't know anything about it either!

I had a tractor do the same thing once, and it was a govenor problem... so that's why i suggested that in the first post...

I don't know anything about an atv,but I have run diesel equipment all my life, and it sounds like the air/fuel governer is stuck or out of adjustment. When a turbo goes out, they will do the same thing as you describe, lots of smoke and no power.
I had the pin fall out of the fuel rack,on a cat 992 loader and you could not give it fuel, and the engine would not rev up.
Sounds like his is starving for fuel, whatever the cause.
Just my .02,

It could have pin fall out of the rack if is a scroll type fuel system. But if it has had some parts come loose ,it could be a problemwith one of the springs on the gov.or on the flyweights in the block. Is it  single cylinder or what?

  992,

It looks pretty much like the other Polaris gas motors...  IT's a single cyl. made by Fuji and i read it is a converted gas motor to diesel....

I think this thing is going to be the end of a long line of Polaris purchases for my brother...  He's had quite a few problems with them over the years, and his son has now went Kawasaki...  My brother is looking at Yamaha now as we have had excelent service out of them here on the farm...

Too bad he's had so many problems with them, he has spent a ton of money with that company buying 6 or 7 Polaris' in a row but i think he's finally had it with Polaris and there problems....

I feel your brother's pain.  It cost me a lot of money before I learned about Polaris.  I've never bought a Polaris atv but I did buy their jetskis. I bought two jetskis for my kids to play with at the lake.  They were new and complete junk.  They were an electrical nightmare. They made the computer box to be beside the impeller shaft.  The battery and the computer got sprayed with constant water all the time the machines are running.  After 2.5 years, the computers were corroded and needed to be replaced.  The only problem is Polaris didn't have the parts to fix them.  Who designs a jetski and then makes the parts obsolete in 2.5 years? The answer Polaris.  I had to practically give them away to get them out of my yard.   >:(
