Can the Rossi (Puma) 45 LC gun be used with loads in the Ruger, Contender Section of the 45 Colt loading manuals.

Thanks!

I did in mine. It's factory chambered to the .454 Casull as well so you decide.

Thanks Graybeard.  I was having trouble doing a Goodle search and getting anything productive.  I did see that it was also made in the 480 too.  I have a friend that has one and he is wanting me to reload some ammo for him, so I wanted to make sure I new where this gun stood since I am not that familiar with it.

I had a guy at a gunshop tell me that 1892's were mfg'd to shoot BP loads, so I shouldn't try to run hot .45 Colt loads thru a modern mfg'd 92. I've since learned different. JD45

As with any gun start with the "starting load" and work your way up! Every gun is different. My 45LC Win 94 should handle the heavy "Ruger only loads" but it won't! Started getting pressure signs at about a grain from max loads! So yes your Puma "should " handle the heavy loads  but start from the bottom and work up! ;)

If we're talking about original Winchester model 1892's then this is correct. Back in the early days of them they didn't even use steel but iron most likely for the receivers. That was fine for BP as was used in those days. That's not the way modern replicas of them are made however. The basic action is very strong and those made today use strong modern steels as well. Not always so on original Winchester guns.

Good piont! But he did say a New Puma! So that was why I didn't referance the old BP 92's! Definately two different animals!
