Attention Remignton stock experts!
« on: January 02, 2007, 08:22:50 AM »
What stocks and forearms are interchangeable on a model 870?

I have an 870 Express in 20 gage; would a 12 gage Wingmaster set fit?

are you saying that 12ga and 20 ga stocks don't interchange between Wingmasters or between Wingmasters and Express...I have two stock sets from Wingmasters...12 and 20  and they appear to be identicle.  Ken

Wingmaster versus Express has nothing to do with it, it's actually an age issue, so depending on the age of the stocks you have, they may or may not be identical. If I may explain, PRIOR to 1977, remington built their 20 gauge 1100's & 870's based on a 12 gauge receivers, so the stocks would interchange. Commencing in 1977, Remington modified the receiver for the 20's for less weight, also a smaller diameter magazine to go with it, hence the TRUE lightweights were born. So, prior to 1977 the stocks would interchage between a 12 & 20, 1977 and later they do not as the 20 gauge receiver became smaller, and hence, as Tractordan states the 20 will interchage with a 7600, 760, 7400, 742.

A 20 guage Wingmaster set will fit.  You can order direct from Remington and possibly other places like MidwayUSA.  Remington only shows the synthetic version in their 2007 catalog, but I'm reasonably sure a call to customer service can get you a set of Wingmaster stocks.
