Monte Carlo Laminated checkered Camo Stock
« on: January 03, 2007, 07:51:35 AM »
Hi, I would like to know if any one has any pics of a factory Monte Carlo Camo stock for a handy? Or where I can see what they look like. I am wanting to buy a new stock and have seen some pics of some good looking handis on this site. I have found a laminated camo stock for sale  but they don't have a pic of it. I tried H&R's web site but no luck. Any help would be apriciated. Thanks!

Welcome to GBO! The camo lam stock set is available in checkered and uncheckered, part numbers are in the FAQs and Help sticky under the 2005 Retail Parts Price list if you want to order one from the factory.

Can you still order these from the factory?  I don't see any mention of it on the website now.

Also, I've been out of of circulation on forums for a while, but I ordered my .30-30 Handi from Walmart, they used to have several pages of Handis to choose from, now only the .35 Whelen unless I'm missing something.  Since I can't search, I haven't been able to find out what's up with that.

WM has all but done away with the fireams web page, but all firearms are still available, see the FAQs and Help sticky.

Tim,

Yes I did, and that's what I was referring to-- it's a 2005 price list, and I think I saw that on NEF's website a couple of years ago, but no updated prices or any mention of it now.

Just got back from a trip to Walmart.  The older gentleman who was working in Sporting Goods told me Walmart is getting out of the gun business effective the end of January.  I did ask him if he meant only the local Walmart or maybe just one region, but he assured me it was -all- Walmarts.

 First I'd heard of this.

I wouldn't rely of one  at your local WM, we have 3 WMs here, all three still sell firearms, one of em is a brand new store!! There are a lot of WMs that don't sell em tho now that used to, we have a member here who is a WM manager, he'll let us know if there's any blanket change in WM's firearms policy, they dropped sales in about 1000 of the 1600 stores that sold firearms, those that had poor sales got the boot as far as firearms go.

As far as I know, the '05 list is the latest H&R retail parts list, I've asked for a new one twice in the last year, they have never sent a new one, they just send me another 2006 firearms catalog. They should be sending the 2007 catalog soon, it's available. The part numbers in the 2005 are correct, the checkered camo part number is listed in the FAQ also, the one in the parts list isn't checkered, the checkered set sell for about $103.

Many thanks Tim, for both the link and the info on the stocks.

We have two Bass Pro Shops going in within an hour's drive (Birmingham, AL), and that may have something to do with the decision locally, though neither of them will open for some months.  Honestly, the few bucks I saved ordering the .30-30 Handi from the same Walmart I visited tonight really was not worth the trouble.

But back on topic, do you prefer the checkered or plain laminated stocks?  I have no problem with the grip on the plain palletwood when hunting with gloves, but have never had my hands on an NEF with checkering.
