Wincester 94 Conversion to .35 Rem?
« on: January 03, 2007, 11:57:43 AM »
Is it possible to convert a Win M-94 to .35 Remington?

I read about the Marlin Marauder, a Marlin 336 with a straight grip, a 16.5" barrel and chambered for the .35 Remington.  Pretty sexy little rig.  I would love to have one, but they stopped making them 40 years ago and only made a couple of thousand of them.  Moreover, it's hard to find Marlin  Model 336 straight grip lever actions.  Most are pistol grips.

Seems as though it should not be too difficult to rebore or rebarrel a M-94 30-30 to .35 Rem.

Am I missing something?

The rim is totally different on a 35 REM . What you can do is rebore and chamber it to 35/ 30-30. This will work if you hand load.  There is some people who wil rebore and chamber it to 356  win. But 356 win pressures are to high for the standard receiver. You could not even use factory loads, light loads under 40k CUP only.

It might be easier to get a Marlin in 35 rem . have the barrel cut down and do a stock and lower tang conversion. I beleive the straght stocks and tangs off the model 94 Marlin are used .

Every time I publish one of my brilliant ideas on GBO, somebody responds and  tells me an easier and better way to achieve the same result.  Thanks for your reply Ben.   Happy New Year to you.

Was that meant to be sarcasm or a real thanks.  If the former, if you don't want to hear other opinions don't post yours ;).  That's what forums are for, SHARING ideas.    He (BenT) was just nicely saying it won't work.

It was meant to be real thanks and a genuine wish for a happy new year to a nice guy (Ben) who was nice enough to respond to something I wrote.  If you check back over my old posts you will find that I am not  a sarcastic person and  that I frequently thank people who respond to something I have suggested.

Now hear this:  I don't need some pin head telling me what to post and what not to post. Got that?  Now, GFYS!  :)

Wow, that was sure nice and if you'll notice my post I ASKED if it was meant to be sarcasm.  I will not lower myself to name calling or inflamatory comments.

You can read back on my posts and see that.
Everything I post, I post in complete wording cause I have no fear of being censored because I do not feel the need to resort to language of that nature to solve a misunderstanding.

My post was meant mostly as informational, but if I offended you, which I obviously did, then I appologize.  just looking out for other fellow GB members.

You can still buy a modern 336 in 35 Rem and modify it like a Marauder.  There are straight grip stocks and levers available for them and the magazine can be shortened to match.

Good luck.
