full size Ruger .22
« on: January 04, 2007, 06:42:35 AM »
Hi Guys,

My uncle recently asked me a question regarding Ruger Single Action Revolvers.  He wanted to know if Ruger makes or ever made a full size single action revolver in .22 caliber?  He already has the Ruger Single Six but complains that it's small in comparison to the Vaquero's out there on the market?

Thanks for your response.

JT.  Unfortunately Ruger has never built a full sized .22.  But the good news is that Bounty Hunter does and they use (licenced from Ruger) Ruger's transfer bar system.  I fell into a used one of these last year and I have been very pleased with it.  It is full sized so it is easy for old fingers to load and is very accurate.  It did shoot a little low but that was easy to fix by filing the front sight shorter.  These come in the traditional 6 shot (like mine) and 8 shot models and are only a couple hundred bucks new.  I love this gun!  44 Man.

Here is a picture of my Bounty Hunter along with a Single Six and Bearcat.

I have a Ruger .22 Bisley that I like a lot, but when I found a S&W Model 17 in almost new condition, well . . . the Ruger sits in the safe now. I know it's not a SA, but dang it, it sure is sweet.
