One scope - multiple barrels?

I've got my .30-'06 Ultra scoped and ready to sight in, and I'd like to know how practical it would be to swap the scope between barrels. I took Mac's suggestion and went with the Leupold QRW rings to mount my new Leupold VXII 4-12x50 scope. I have faith that these rings will return to zero if I remove the scope and put it back on. They're solid and well-made.

What I'd like to know is if any of you have zeroed one scope with more than one barrel, kept notes on the # of clicks of windage and elevation it took to zero the scope on the other barrel(s), and been successful at re-zeroing it on the different barrels just by using your notes.

I'd like to get some more barrels, but I really like nice scopes, and can't afford to buy $450 scopes for every barrel. Also, my shooting range is quite a distance away, so it's really not convenient to sight in a scope on the spur of the moment.

I have a budy with a T/C rifle and a black powder barrel. He uses leupold (quick release bases). It seems to work good going from rifle to black powder. But when you go the other way it alway 2" or so off. Well its off 2" on the black powder too but thats ok to me at a 100yd.

The bases twocan posted won't work on an H&R, only Weaver style rings will work, Leupold QRWs work great. I've never switched scopes, prefer to have a dedicated scope for each barrel, that way I don't have to remember anything about settings or worry about the scope following the changes I make, once it's set, it's there.

Yes...with my Leupold scopes I have......This will really depend if your scope is tracking correctly...and one should test it and make it is before doing this...With these QWR's make sure you set them in the slots of the rail the same way each time..either with pressure towards the front...or to the rear..you can feel what I mean when they are loose sitting on the rail..

I use the quick release on my lever and have 3 different settings for my scope for 3 different rounds.
When putting my scope back on I've never had more the a 1/2 in change in impact at 100yds if any at all.

Thanks, guys. It might be a little while before I get to test my "one scope, many barrels" plan, but it at least looks to be worth trying.

For me, having one scope shared among multiple barrels was a good way to go

I've put an ultra rail on three barrels, they all share one scope.  The minimal re-targeting I may (or not) need is far outweighed by the cost savings.
