M-14 Barrel
« on: January 08, 2007, 08:00:40 AM »
Does anybody know where I can get an after market M-14 barrel ? Years ago when I got it,the flash was cut off because of the Brady Bill, with a cutting torch! I would like to have a barrel with a flash hider on it....Mail order? Is this something I can install myself?

 Thanks Suds1957

There are numerous suppliers of after market M-14/M1A barrels, go to M14forum.net you can get the information about several vendors there.  As far as being able to install this yourself, no offense intended but if you have to ask if it is something you can do yourself then probably not, however once again there are folks at the other site who can direct you where to get that done.  Plus the cost of the tools to do this are prohibative if you are only going to do one rifle.  Another option would be to have your existing barrel, cut to 18" rethreaded install a flash suppressor and turn it into a bush rifle conversion because if your flash hider was cut off with a torch, I can't imagine your present barrel is a shooter if it is even shootable.  Hope this helps

Thanks guys, however it is a good shooter! I looked at it again,it looks as if the the cut is a strait cut,and the "nut"that holds the site on the barrel or kepts it from comming off , is welded[nut]its like several large spot welds around that nut... Is it possibile that I could break loose the welded nut, take the front site off, and replace it with a new site flash hider, instead of replaceing entire barrel? Try to do it the cheapest way, but still want the thing to shoot ......Thanks for inputs...
