;) You ask about terminal damage and .30-30 ammo. I have used 150 grain WW Silvertips for several years on antelope... This fall while going for my 2nd doe, I picked up a box of 150 grain WW Hollow Points instead  of the Silvertips. Shot the doe in the shoulder, similar to the ones I hit with Silvertips. The damage by the hollowpoint was very extensive.  In this case far more than the Silvertips damage... It may be and isolated incident but it was impressive.....

Not much to add, but I had a very unusual exit wound this year on a antelope doe I shot with a 30-30.
I was using some older factory Federal 170 sp and the shot was about 120 yards broadside.
This is the strange part , the bullet exited thru the ribs and left a HUGE HOLE 5 to 6" in diameter, I am not kidding, I did take a pic of if but it was with one of those disposable one time cameras so I cant post the pic. My two hunting buddies and I have never seen a hole like that before on a animal, In the picture I have both of my fists next to each other and inside the wound with room to spare.
I have been hunting for over 45 years and have never seen a bullet do this type of damage before,I dont use a 30-30 alot but I had a new red dot sight on it and had a close shot for a antelope so thats what I used and if I use it again on deer or antelope I will get some different bullets first.   Jedman

This is my oldest daughter and her first buck.  It was an exceptionally heavy animal but no armor plating.  One 150 grain Winchester SUPER X SilverTip bullet got the job done.  This bullet nose appears to be an aluminum alloy.  To my knowledge no other bullet like it in the world except as made by Winchester.   Wound channel was quite ghastly with serious damage to chest organs.
