Came across some pics of one of my favorites. A Savage 24C/ .32-20. I bought it as is at a gun show. It was in poor cosmetic shape with mucho crown damage from front cleaning (I guess) bore is great. I figured I would get it back to useable condition.
Mods;
barrel shortened 1.5"/ recrowned
Sight dovetails filled
drilled and tapped
6x40 scope
Polished and blued
Favorite load is by "T's" Ammo in Texas City, 100 gr Hornady jhp loaded especially for bolt guns, too hot for handguns!
Averages about 1.75" at 100yds. with this load. Standard 95 gr, lead factory loads are good for rabbits etc. out to 80-90 yds.
Just thought I'd share.
BTW, The stock is not that shiney now, that set of pics was before I buffed the final finish to a satin look.
