    how do you take the lock off a traditions deer hunter flintlock

 it will have 1 or 2 screws .
 on the off side of the lock "side plate " there will be one  sometimes two screws . these must be removed , they go all the way through the stock to the  lock itself .
 if it only has one then  you need to look just forward of the frizzen spring for a small wood screw . "IF" there is one there it must be also removed .

 :)To add to Captchee's good advice, back the lock screws-IF they go all the way through-out a few threads and tap LIGHTLY with a wood block or plastic hammer. This will loosen the lock so it won't have to be pried out. Of course, this don't apply to wood screws. That's my little 2cents and good shooting to you. Hunman55
