MGM Barrels
« on: January 12, 2007, 10:58:03 AM »
What's differant about the MGM barrels from the others. I see where they will chamber a cal. that the others won't make. (wsm's - ultras).
Are these barrels safe and is there any mishaps due to these cal. I would love to have a 270wsm for my pro hunter and possibly a 300rum. My biggest concern is are these barrels SAFE.
Not to open a can but please give me your views.
Thanks, DM

After careful consideration, I will be getting a 7mag barrel for my pro hunter. I really like the encore/PH format. really enjoyed my 25-06 this year and want to add a bigger cal. Don't really need but what the heck. I will still use my sendero 300rum for the bigger stuff and and will keep my 270wsm ruger. I originally was going to trade the ruger for 270wsm barrel for pro hunter, but after investigating I believe my best bet would be to get a 7mag barrel for my pro hunter instead of trading in my 270wsm ruger. For safty and $$ reasons.  there's only about < 100fps differance between the 270wsm and 7mag with the 140 acubonds all the way out to 500yrds, and energy is tit for tat also. Never had a straight 7, so this is the time to add one. Will keep 270wsm for my son (that's my story and I'm stickin 2 it), for it's one of my  most accurate rifles, and I really like that cal. As for the 300rum in the pro hunter, I better leave that work for sendero. Even with new stocks ,I bet she would have quiet a thump. Will just try to get my 338wm PH barrel dialed in a little better. Then I will be set.

yea right, DM
