« on: January 15, 2007, 12:08:38 PM »
I found a Ultra Varmint 223 with a thumbhole stock it is called a( Hr ultra varmint 223 rem 24 t- hole ) on rrarms.com web site. Is this a new gun they are going to make?  ??? I would like to find one. I emailed rrarms but have not heard back from them . Oh by the way they list some 3 barrel combo's and show to have some in stock! Thanks in advance for any info. ;D

Sweet stock.  Let us know C/S gets back to you.  I'm curious too.

The fluted Ultra comes with a Choate thumbhole stock, is available in 204, 223, 22-250 and 243, they have 24" fluted barrels.

I see what you're referring to, looks like a nice offering if it's actually available, it's not in the 2007 Catalog either! The butt doesn't match the forend color, may be a special offering by RRArms that has a GSI stock on it. ???

So where could I get a stock like that ?

I googled 'GSI gunstocks' but didn't find a source.

If I don't get a reply by email I will call them and find out about the gun. I also found them at gzanders.com but also out of stock. I guess I could just buy a stock and put it on but I thought this might be simpler.

I love the buttstock, I use it on my XR-100, but for a 2 piece stock there has to be a hole in the grip for the bolt? I want to see the validity of this in a 2 piece, where are they and who is making them.... It looks identical to the Boyds thumbhole buttstock:

If these are real I woud love to have one.

It might use an allen head stock bolt. That would need a smaller recess and no need to ger a socket around it.

I think it is dang ugly...now if it was a lefty, I would have to have one. ;)

What is the purpose of a thumbhole stock? Is it just for looks?

We've been discussing the pistonl grip in another thread.  I think the thumbhole design is basically a pistol grip.  Anyway, the structure of your wrist, forarm and the palm of your hand is a great recoil reducer.  The added weight of your arm and the better rigidity in your grip seems to be the ticket.  Think of a Ram whose spine and head line up just right for those head butts :)

I just got off the phone with rrarms and zander,s they both said the rifles are on back order from the manufacturer and they don't know when they will be available. I did not think to ask if they knew what brand of stocks they were. Going to a gun show in Tulsa this weekend maybe someone will have one.  ;)

The brand appears to be the Stinger which is also made for the TC twins.  I like the design of the Handi-Rifle Stinger better to be honest.  Thislink should work.

That doesnt look at all like the stinger to me. :-\  The comb seems to be lower and look at the arch on the bottom. I really like this one over the stinger. Hopefully they will have them soon I want one.

Has anyone contacted Customer Service at NEF to see if these Thumbhole stocks are available to order like the other stocks they have available?  It seems we can order all the other stocks.   ???

I just got the email today that the rifles with the thumb hole stocks are available. Wish I had the money to get one now. :(
