Range Report for 22-250 and Thanks

First the thanks to everyone here who make this place such a great resource.

Now, to the other business. Looks like I have a shooter and made some headway with my Ultra 22-250 Varmint getter.
Finally got sighted in after a nightmare first weekend with scope problems. Got a Bushnell 6x24 Banner mounted and headed for the range on Saturday. Zeroed at 50 yards and setup to try the 100 yard range with WWB 45 gr and Hornady 55gr Vmax.

First the WWB:

As you can see the Hornady grouped much better with 5 shots near an inch. The lowest shot was after I adjusted my scope down an inch or so.
I will give the WWBs the benefit of the doubt since I was shooting from a homemade bench with no bags and using the WWB box as a brace. Thank you Choate! I was also able to hammer some 6 inch steel plate targets we have set out at 180 and 220 yards and hit pretty regular on one target at 325 yards. Yessir! says I.
Anyway, after the first weekend blues, this session with the new Bushnell makes me feel a whole lot better.

I'd say its a keeper , just starting to ring out my new 22-250 , i hope it does as well with handloads .

As with most new rifles, be patient with it. Your groups should get smaller after you fire a box or so through it. Even though I reload, I shot a box of WWB through my .223 bb before I even thought about a reload. Naturally, I didn't keep the first few targets, but if my memory serves me well, the groups were in the 1.5" area. The WWB groups did get down to around .750" before I started reloading. I do believe some of that had to do with me getting used to the Handi as it was my first single shot.

I'm sure the rifle can do better if the shooter had a better rest.
Am getting a Harris bipod and should be able to get a better idea after steadying up a bit.
The WWBs are acceptable at least, especially considering the price, and will likely do just fine with better shooting.
For the next go round I need to bring her right an inch and maybe down another hair. That should put it about where I want it within an inch hi or low out to about 230 yards. Will use the mildots for the rest.

if shooting off a bi-pod i'd suggest a large-enough, flat surface on the bench to allow the bi-pod to slide over a very flat area.    i'd also suggest a rest on the back of the stock near the recoil pad to allow you to consistently place the rifle on a surface at the rear as well.    if placing it in a sand bag with a suede cover i'd put something smooth like denim over the suede to reduce the friction.   it helps to eliminate the inconsistencies of a stock or forearm dragging over something.

I bet it gets tighter yet with Hornady 50 gr VMax.............22-250's love them

I can see how the friction might cause a problem so will try to eliminate that issue
