Need info on a ruger
« on: January 16, 2007, 03:07:06 AM »
I have an old ruger and need some help dating it and a ball park value. It says on the side sturm ruger & co.  also a number 89936.  I can not find mark I or mark II on it anyplace. It looks like a mark I. Would anyone have any ideas for me?  Thank you for your time.  Dave

If it has a tang safety, it is one of the older ones. Even being an old Ruger, if it's in good shape, it's still worth a lot.

Hunt:  Are you refering to a pistol or rifle?  I am assuming you are refering to a pistol as the rifles have a broken serial # with a dash, Sturm Ruger list their rifles by year of Manufactur by serial # on their web site, HTH  JIM

If the mags hold 9 rds it's a MK I, quick and dirty. I have one I bought in  1959 for the princely sum of $37.50 new.

Being that this is i the handgun area of the fourms it's quite unlikely this has a tang safety.   ::)

The mk I had no slide stop, an easily noticed difference.
