factory ammo for 1895GS

Just purchased a new Marlin 1895GS, beauty of a gun!!  Im currently waiting for my scope mount and scope to come in (XS sight systems scout scope mount is backordered--blah).  Anyway, any opinions as to the best factory ammo for the 1895's??  I don't currently reload and until I get a new bigger house for the family I don't have a room to do it in anyway -- so stickin with the factory loads.  Thanks.

You will love your 1895.  For factory loads, it all depends on what you want to do with it.  I shoot the Winchester silver box 300 gr hollow points a lot.  They shoot great in my .45/70, the recoil is not bad, and they are readily available and inexpensive.  Not a bad round for whitetails or hogs.  Federal also makes a couple of 300 gr loads but they are sometimes hard to come by.  Remington has a 300 gr and a 405 gr.  I have not shot the 300 gr Remmy.  The 405 has mild recoil but a rainbow trajectory.  For big game hunting you will want to try the Hornady leverevolution 325 grain rounds.  Other than that there are some premium loads available at much higher prices if you really want to get fancy.  Enjoy, Rev

For hunting with a factory I always liked the 405gr remington load.  I do usually use that bullet in a reload though. But I do keep a few boxes of thr factory around just in case I run out. Regards, Byron

     Most any factory load ( that you can hit with ) will , I suspect , take care of deer .

     For bear ( which we do not have ) I think I would use the hottest load I could handle accurately  ?  Range would be pretty short ?

i have shot alot of factory ammo threw my guide gun and most i have shot are tame but decent accrucy but i LOVE the buffalo bore ammo they are a little more pricey but well worth the extra cost for hunting  the 350 grainers are deer stoppers for sure...but your shoulder will tell the diff. its like daylight and dark..

Any of the 300gr loads will give you great performance on Whitetails & Black Bear, and (more importantly) a quite flatter trajectory than the 400-up class of slugs, making hitting what you're shooting at much easier - Not to mention that they're easier on your shoulder, too.

I will also second (third) what others have said abotu Rem or Win 300 gr for deer or hog. Very effective.  I also liek the Hornady Leverevolution 325gr at higher than 300 gr velocity.  It you can take the recoil the PMC makes a 350gr that travels almost 2200 fps.
But that is a bit stiff for me.  But i did just have a limbsaver recoil pad put on my 1895.  Have yet to shoot it with the addition
