OK Dan,
  Here`s one that will curl your toes, around a campfire.
The story I`m about to tell you, is a true story, and happened to me, this last deer season (2003), in OKlahoma.
   I was deer hunting, out of a tower stand, on my personal property at 14:30 hrs. It was the 3rd day of deer season here in Oklahoma, and the weather was 35 degrees, and clear and sunny. I didn`t hunt the morning hunt, cause it was extremely cold at 20 degrees and I have arthurrites, and knew I would freeze out early. We had heavy hunting pressure on the deer the day before and I really didn`t think I would see any deer but I went anyhow. I got in my stand at 14:30 hours and the wind was blowing out of the north about 30 M.P.H. It was cold but I was in an enclosed stand, which cut down on the bite of the cold wind. It was starting to get windy and nothing was moving at all. No squirrels, deer birds, nothing at all. Well at about 15:30 hours, I was looking north at a fence line through a small opening in the trees and for about two second I saw a tall skinny man covered in hair walking east. He was about 6 to 7 ft tall, covered in black hair, and looked like a tall college basketball player. That is to say, he had that type of build. Tall, skinney, long langy arms to his side. He walked a rugular walk, not fast, not slow, just a determined walk, like he had business to take care of. Now my orginal thought was that my eyes were playing tricks on me. LIke if you concentrate to hard to see deer, you will make out deer in the woods, and its only a tree limb with leaves on it. So I passed it off as that, but still it was in the back of my mind, of what I really saw. Will about 15:45 hours, I heard tree knocking about 200 yards from me. Now we have had a lot of trespassers this deer season and I marked it down to another trespasser, that was trying to put up a tree stand, but I would check him out in the morning, cause it was getting to late to go over there then and ruin my deer hunt. I thought the tree knocking was someone putting up a tree platfor.
     Now the wind quit blowing and the sun really warmed things up, I was actually getting warm. Still no animals of anything moving. I didn`t care I was enjoying the woods. The leaves were dry as ceral pot toasties and if anything would be walking, I would hear them now as they walked on the dry leaves.
    Well it was getting dark now, and the corn feeder went off and I had about 30 legal minutes of hunting left. When the corn feeder goes off, the predators usually move in looking for the deer that come to the feeders, so I thought I would at least take out some coyotes. It was dark now, and I could only see about 30 yards and was just getting ready to come out of the stand when it happened. A loug holler to the left of me that left me paralzed, with fear. It was a holler that was only about 40 yards to the west of me in the thick woods. I had a flash light , that I hurriedly flashed over in the direction, and then what I seen, made me whished I hadn`t looked at all. I saw a large gorilla looking man, with broad shoulders, from the head down to the waist. The rest of him was hid by brush, and I estemate, he was about 7 ft tall, and not the skinny thing I saw earlier, but very strong and broad shoulders.
     Well, I hurried out of the stand and headed for the house. It didn`t follow me, just wanted me out of the woods. I was saying some might fast praying that  it wouldn`t chase me, cause with my arithitus, I can`t move very fast. Now tell the truth, I hunt with a 444 Marling rifle, and I know it will kill anything on the North American contentient, but there was such a fear of what I just saw that I was not taking any chance, as long as he did`nt charge me.
     Once I got back to the house, my wife told me she had heard a large roar to and was worried that something had happened to me. I got to putting the evening events together and decided that I had indeed seen bigfoot the first time and it was not my imagination. The tree stand being put up was actuallyt him doing the tree knocking thing. Not only that but the tree knocking was in the other direction, so there was at least two of them
    Now three years ago, I leased out my property to a fellar, that was a avid bowhunter. He would hunt everyday. He would get in his stand, an hour before sunrise, and if handn`t got his deer yet, he wouldn`t come out till an hour after the sun set. About a week into the deer bow season he came out all scared at 14;00 hrs. and asked me what type of animals I have running on my property. He was darn near in shock. He wouldn`t tell me what he saw, just to say it grapped a lot of turkey`s, and that He would never be back.
    He never did come back. And I thing I know why now.
This is a true story, I am 57 years old, and retired from Burlington Norther Santa Fe railroad. I believe in God and think there are a lot of misteries yet to be unlocked.

What kind of terrain is this also . Is it swampy or just hardwoods ? This may sound dumb , but could you smell it , ya know , like guys say they can smell a bear when it comes in .

bullet maker,

that is something awesome.  i have experienced some weird stuff, but nothing like that!  this was on your property?  have you seen it since?  have you heard from it since?  i cant imagine how scary it would be, but i would have to find it.  have you been back out hunting yet?

btw,  whats the "tree knocking thing"?  just wondering...

Hi; cknight98;
   Yes it happened on my property, I own 200 acres, that border l5,000 public hunting acres, and all of this is in the center of hugh vast farm lands, and lots of strip pitts. Strip Pitts, is where they came back in the l950, and dug the coal out of the ground and not filling back in the hole. Some people, think it scar`s the land but I know for a fact that it becomes a haven for deer, turkey, good fishing and a bundance of other wildlife.
    I have two friends that we are know trying to entice him to show hisself so we can get a shot, and prove that they exist. He (bigfoot) hasn`t hurt nobody yet, but after we harvest one, and the scientist proves that they do in fact exist, then they can put them on the endangered list, so they will be left along. The other side of that story however, is when we do get one and prove they exist, I don`t think a lot of people will want to go to the woods, before daylight. LOL. :eek:
  thanks for you quesitones. :D

  Hi Mich trapper:
   The terrain, where this incident happened, was on a hill where I live. The hill is covered with oad trees, red oak, white oak, blackjack, ash, hickory. It is rough terrain, with stip pitts, on all sides, and canyon`s here and there. Now in the bottoms, its oad trees and swampy, with lots of tall weeds, and some clear cuts, with wheat, Milo, and corn, planted here and there.
   I never did smell him. Course he was in front of me, and the wind was blowing in my face, which meant, it was blowing his scent towards me, but I didn`t smell anything. Some people report they smell a musky smell or sulphur, or skunk, but I didn`t that day. Now I have another story that happend at night when I was in my travel trailer, and I did smell him that night, but that`s another story.

Hi cknight98;
  I forgot to answer your question about the tree knocking. What I heard was a rap---rap-rap---rap. He did this in a series of three for about 1 minute. I believe it is a way that they comunicate with each other.
   Now on this story that I told he did not get a answer, but on other occasion, I have hear them answer each other which seemed they were about 400yds to 1000 yds apart and there would be sometimes three of them tree knocking to each other.

I'm not one to believe in stories like this, but I have seen some things in the woods of Pa, that have scared the crap out of me.  I have never seen a 'person' or 'bigfoot', but lots of spooky stuff.  If you are serious, or believe that you actually have this problem, I would get a large group of fellas, at least 20, and get in groups of 2, and go get that thing(s) off my land.  It is your right.  You say it/they haven't hurt anyone or anything yet, but I must stress the YET.  If they come from the same genes you and I do, you know that man has a history of doing bad things.  I would seriously talk to the authorities ASAP to see what legal rights you have, and don't shoot it or them, because you may be tried for murder.

Very interesting either way, and I love stories, please give us some more

Hi doubleA;
  You had a good idea, about getting 20 guys together and hunting down the creature. The only trouble with that is,  even in gun deer season, with all the people hunting in the woods, nobody see`s him. He`s very adapt at hiding. I think I will do better with a small group, like 2 or 3 guys.
thanks

The only thing that really scares the s*** out of me is the BIGFOOT story's! How about setting up some of those game camera's-most people don't beleave the picture's, but it might help you get one.
Try useing sniper type tatic's.

  :D hello rdc in MN;
    Yes we have 4 game camer`s set up in the woods now. Have had them working, for the last 6 months. Besides the regular animals such as deer, opposums, rabbits, squirrls, racoons, wild hogs, etc, we did get a picture of bigfoot. It didn`t turn out all that well, but he did show up. There were other picutures that were of the unexplained weird type, such as a furry hand reaching for the camera. Several bulry type pictures with something walking or running past the camera etc. We hope to present a body within short time.

These things are all over East Texas too.  I've seen them twice, once from within 6 feet!  It was not a pleasant experience.  The problem is, you don't want to talk about it because no one believes you.

Hello Fafhrd;
  Your right, it hard for people to believe us. But that`s whats nice about this talk forum,  At least we can tell our story, and if they dont believe us, thats their progative. Us guys who have seen them, we believe you.
   Let me say its hard for most people to believe in such things, simple because its not proven to exist as of yet. However I feel its just a matter of time, until someone bags one. There are a lot of us diehard hunters, thats out in the woods alot doing a lot of hunting, and just sitting in the creek bands fishing, and then we see one and it changes everything.
   So keep your eyes peeled, and watch the shadows.

Bullet Maker, I don't mind telling you that after seeing that thing, even though it was many years ago, that many times when I'm in the woods around sunset, I get a little queasy.  It is not something I ever want to encounter again.

Seems like the whole area where Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana meet has a large number of sightings.  They've always been talked about down here in East Texas.

I live about 1/2 half hour west of Tulsa by Cleveland.  If you set up an expedition to find this animal - let me know, I'll come with.  I'm pretty good in the woods.

this is an encouragement-not a slight- i believe there is a bigfoot. seems there is a legend about them in every culture-including my ealy e. texas days in the big thicket.
what i would like to see in this forum is a description, which i guess we have had, i guess i'm thinkin commonalities. would also like a description of the areas where you folks have seen, heard, experienced these animals. see if the live in the same kind of habitat from area to area. a real good description of locations would be good so as we can locate tha area on a map .
i'm enjoyin tha post

Bigfoot Dscription

Hello Williamlayton :D
  I`ll try to answer your question the best I can, However, the terraine from other people might be different from my own. The old True saying ( all an animal needs is, food,water, and cover). That pretty much fits Bigfoot as well. He is much like an old russian boar, in that the more brushy, inhospitalable, woody`s, etc, is where he will be. However he sometimes have been seen in broaddaylight, walking across an open field.
   I`ve seen them a couple of times, and they are always the same, that is, black hair, covering all there body, except for their face and palm of hands, and bottoms of their feet. The one`s I`ve seen have round heads, like us, ears like us, hands have a thumb and 4 fingers like us. The feet have  five toes like us.
    I observed one last year, while I was up in my tower stand. It was 15:00 hrs, and out of nowhere, he came walking down a fence row, coming from the west going east. He was about 7 ft tall and description is the same as I mention above. He didn`t look left or right, more like he was doing a sunday walk. Now the terraine that I was in was very woody with acorn trees. The trees being about 30ft tall, not as tall as the acorn trees down in the bottoms by the creek which grow to about 40 ft and the pecans up to about 50 to 60 ft. The fence line that he was walking, was cleared out so it was easy walking. It is a hilly terraine, with steep canyons and small caves here and there. Lots of copper head snakes and timber back rattle snakes.
   He resembled a tall college black basketball player. He was walking on two legs, with a very slight stoop. But he walked straighter than I do. I only got to see him for a few short seconds before he disappeared in the trees.
    I`ve seen them a few times and heared them alot. So far, they have not been aggressive. They run or hide when they know you have seen them. Ive been growled at, grunted at and screamed at. One dark night after leaving my tower stand , one followed me out in the dark. I could hear him walking in the dry leaves. When I would stop, he would stop, but he took one extra step each time before he stopped. That`s how I knew it was him. I played a few more games doing the quick stop trick on him to make sure he was still behind me. And then I slipped silently to the side for him to come up to me, but he never showed. Maybe it`s good thing he didn`t cause I might not be typing this e-mail today. Or he might have been more surprized than me and ran off.
    One thing I forgot to mention, is the only one that I saw up close,(15ft), had yellow eyes, with a black verticle pupil like a cat. I believe the verticle pupil opens up like a cat`s eye at night and that`s why it can see so good at night.
    As far as telling where this all happen`s at, we can`t give our location away cause there would be to many hunter`s out here and then I believe he might leave, or I should say they, cause I`ve seen more than one.
thanks for your inquiry.

I leave for work early and there is a show on an AM radio station that I listen to.  It is called coast to coast with George Norry.  The show ends at 5:00 am.  More than once they have talked about this topic, and people always call in.  They once had a guest that is dedicating his life to proving they exist.  Apparently he found that the standard camera's do not work to film them because they emit noise at a frequency we cannot hear. The bigfoot are able to hear this that is why they always find the hidden cameras.  that must be why you photographed a hairy hand reaching for your camera.  I personally find the topic intriguing and love hearing or reading about it.
A bad day of hunting is better than a good day at the golf course.

Dan/guys I have become one hell of a tracker for over 30 years hunting in Vermont up in the higher elevations tracking deer, bears, and mountainlion looking for bigfoot tracks too but haven't seen one yet.  I'm sure the more time I spend in the woods I will see one for sure sooner or later. I've had many experiences in the higher elevations at night(dusk) comming out of our stands I've had things making noise go around us we could hear it circle but never see it while we were in our stands.  I can track anything anywhere you can too its not hard just look at the leaves they turn a certain way when walked upon.  Just try it with a deer in an orchard trust me its easy look closely and read  leaves they will actually stand out different like they were a different color.  My only other advise is carry a compass you get turned around alot when your tracking!!

BigBill,

thats what gets most hunters in trouble, not paying attention to there surroundings...

All you have to do is don't panic and use a compass before you go out and know where north is and the location of the loggin/access  roads. Now we have GPS and radios besides compasses too so we are intouch with each other.  It came in handy lastyear when a hunter was inbetween me and my son on my land cutting thru with no hunter oragne on at all. I radioed my son and told him watch out for this guy he is headed your way with no orange on.  It pays to be safe not that he would of shot anyway I'm sure he wouldn't but the guy walking had a radio too so I'm sure he heard what I said too.  If I'm out in the woods its Hunter orange for sure you just never know? If i'm in my stand 30feet from my trailer on my land I'm in full camo in my leanto.          BigBill

BigBill,

GPS's and radios sure have made it nice and easy for us these days.  everyone in my hunting party (5 of us) use them to stay in touch.  you never know when your going to need help to drag that big boy out   :)

Plus my son is out of my site and he tends to fall a sleep since he goes to college and works fulltime its not a good thing to do in your stand so the radio keeps me in touch with him more often.  This is funny my two neighbors kids are up in tree stands and its almost time to get out(dark) one of them fell a sleep and fell out of the stand and the other one can hear him clawing his way down the tree!!   We sure have some great hunting stories and laughs too.                 BigBill
