Hornady 110 SP In The 30 Herrett?
« on: January 18, 2007, 03:39:57 PM »
Now that Hornady and Sierra have dropped their Single Shot Pistol Bullets from production, has any one tried or have real life reports on the Hornady 110 SP?

Plan on using it in a 10" Contender for Southeast Whitetail.  I have taken a few with it using the SSP bullets, and was pleased with the performance of the bulllet.

I'm wondering if the 110's are designed to perform at lower speeds that are generated out of the Herrett...

Using bulk 110RN bullets to fire form cases, we are getting right around 2000-2050 fps out of the 10 inch tube.  I suspect limiting shots to under 100 yards would be the ticket if... The bullet will expand...

Anyone got any ideas?

I still have a supply of Horn. & Sierra SSP bullets. But my best load so far in my 30 Herrett has been with Nosler 125gr. BT over 23.0 grs. H-4227 at 2.320 OAL. You might also want to try the Speer 130 HP, they also shoot good in my 10" Barrel.

I purchased and have loaded the bulk Remington 125 sp from Midwayfor use in my .300 Whisper and they shoot great. Have not taken any game with the load though.
