What lure do you think is better for rats,Muskrat #1 or Muskrat #2? I believe the lure maker is Hawdabeckers.

Everyone has there own idea what lure works for them.  You will hear all sorts  of ideas  fm differant people.  I would advise you to try some differant ones and keep records.   Find a favorite of yrs that you trust  but also have a second one on hand for   places where your nbr one doesnt pan out or someone else used it and the animals are smart to it.   Anymore question fire away.

I have an idea for a homeade muskrat lure.1/2 oz. gycerine,1 finely chopped beaver castor,1/8 of an oz. carrot juice and 1/4 of honey or maple syurup.I can put the carrot in our juice maker and it grineds it up so fine it makes juice out of it and I will put it throught twice to make sure it is cliced up good.I'am going to use gyicerine for a base, and I heard that muskrats are attracted to beaver castor.I picked honey beacuse I heard that they like the smell of anything sweet.I'am not to sure about the maple syrup because it might make the lure too runny.

I think you should get a lure making book and read up on lure making.  This will save you alot of headaches and wasted time.  You will still get  some headaches though lol.  Oils of certain things are better than the juices  ect.  Plus  you mentioned using one bvr castor  ect.  That would be way too much  though i dont know what amount you are making.  There are better things out there than bvr castor for rats.   Castor does have some attraction . Lure making isnt just throwing a bunch of things together and sometimes you have to age certain things or the lure itself before you add the final ingrediant ect.

The Hawbakers number 1 is generally regarded as the best.

I have been using russ carmans mcl 100 rat lure and it works very well.  I have definatly noticed an increase in rats since i started using it.  Try it!  I'd say you could catch rats on about any lure with a good set and location though.
