Ultra Disappointment
« on: January 19, 2007, 06:07:18 AM »
I ordered an Ultra Varmint .223 with laminated stocks on December 26th.  The LGS told me that the warehouse had it in stock.  So I was patient and dilligently waited for it to arrive.  Well yesterday after the weekly phone call, someone just piped up and told me it was now back ordered and they had no idea when it would come into stock.  If they would have told me that in the beginning I would ordered something else or bought a different rifle.  Now, Im let down and not sure if I should cancel the order and get my money back or just wait it out and hopefully get a rifle by spring.

It's out of stock at Sports South too, but they do have the 22" Ultra Hunter in stock.

Go back and have them call to see what is IN stock , maybe you can get a standard handi with the 22" and pallet wood stocks , then use the money left over to buy ammo or a scope .

My local MC Sports has the 223 BB in stock for 209 + tax , i have one and can not see were the extra 2" would make that much diffrence in how it would shoot .

Thanks for the replies guys.  I wasnt as upset about the rifle being out of stock as them telling me it was in stock and on the way for 3 weeks before someone stepped up and told me the truth.  I had them call the warehouse before I ordered it to make sure that it was in stock.  I went to the shop and had a nice talk with the manager of the department, cancelled my order, and got my money back.  From there, I took a ride down to my favorite shop.  I had a bunch of time to think about it.  Since I just sent my receiver in for a 357 barrel, I figured I could call and have a 223 barrel added also, but as this was CHRISTmas loot from the girlfriend, I figured I had best use it before she decided that we need to spend it elsewhere.  Looked at a bunch of rifles and shotguns ranging in price from sks's, an old beretta silver something pump gun, a cz 527 in 223 or a bushmaster.  I just wasnt seeing what I wanted until I spied a really nice and minty 4" Smith and Wesson model 19.  Its an older one with a pinned barrel and recessed chamber.  It was marked $375 and I was thinking about it, but figured what could be more fun then a nice revolver and a handi in 357 and decided to go for it.  After filling out the paperwork, he said oh just give me $300 and grab some ammo.  Ill post a few pics when I get a chance.

It's just about dark here, so I will have to take it to the range tomorrow.  I still dont have a centerfire rifle, but I will just wait for my rifle to get back from H&R.  By the way, the shop had an AZ serial H&R 28inch full choke for $80 and also a target model 38-55 for roughly $350.  If anyone is interested in either of these, drop me a line and Ill send you the info on the shop.
