Mosin-Nagant model 1927 from Finland

Saw a nice one the other day, Has anyone else been seeing any? This one was in nice shape
but VERRRY expensive ! what are they going for in other areas? (I am in Georgia).
this one was almost $800.00 ! Appeared to have been re-worked at Tikka in 1934.
At least 98% blue left with what appeared to be either a mint bore or it was chrome lined !

They are one of, if not "the" nicest Nagants ever produced !
I have one that is in the condition you described. Exactly like the one you described.
A 1934 Tikka with all matching numbers. It is a heavy chrome lined barrel. They apparently are one of the rarer Mosins to find in this country. These were snapped up by hunters and competitors
in Finland. That is why we see so few. I probably have not fired mine 20 times in the 20 or so years I have had it. $800.00 seems steep to me, but in all honesty, I do not know if I would sell mine for that. They are just too hard to replace in a collection. I paid over $150.00 for mine over 20 years ago. (I Keep all my receipts). I will try to post some pics, it really is a nice rifle.

The model 27's are mostly collectors item. Not many of them around.

I have a Finn. Mosin-Nagant and it is a very good shooter.  The Russian ones I have are O.K. but fall far behind the Finn. in accuracy and quality.  The reciever was probably of Russian origin, but the barrel and trigger are very good.  I paid about $300.00 2 years ago but I am not sure if model designations are the same ?  Is the one you are looking at a full length rifle?    Walt

The famous finnish sniper prefered to use the M27 without a scope.  He also had a swedish mauser that was scoped too.  Most of his kills were done with the M27 mosin.  All of the finnish mosins were reworked to shoot 1"moa and then they were passed on to the troops. Becareful of those shims inside the stock when you take it apart to clean it thats why these were so accurate they shimmed the stock/receivers until they were accurate.  The finn's were fussy when it came to accuracy and perfection.  The finn mosins were offered in m91/30's too.  They were reworked russian guns and some had finn fatty stocks while the others had skinny russian stocks but all of these had shims in the stocks too.

After the new move about the russian/finnish war on DVD came out the prices on the finnish guns went crazy.  Just before that the M39's were $89 and the finnish 91/30's were $79.  Now you can't touch that stuff.

We also must consider the way the russians manufactured the mosins too.  During ww2 they were under a lot of pressure from the germans while retreating but yet they kept up with the supply of men and rifles and tanks.  They did show the stuff being manufactured with machines in warehouses with no roofs too. Now we must condsider there accuracy is pretty good for the way they had to manfacture them.

I recently picked up a M39, 1942 production with the "B" barrel.  It has the "SA" markings on it.  It was arsenal refurbished and is in "new" condition.  It was a steal at $130.00 since the local Gander Mountain has one in "very distressed" condition for $229.00.  I have never seen a Mosin-Nagant, and few other millitary rifles in this good condition.  Unfortunately it has importer markings on the barrel.  It's too bad that I can't see the sights good enough to take advantage of it's potential accuracy.

Yesterday I found a Lee-Enfield #4 Mk. 2 in very good condition with a target sight.  I should be able to shoot that one better.

The only time an import mark is going to hurt you is if you try to sell it. I'll take one any day of the week if it's cheaper.

I agree.  I am looking for value.  If I can get a gun with importer markings for 50% of one without them, I'll go with them every time.  I'm not looking to fill a void in a collection, I'm looking for something that I can occasionally shoot.

I did buy the Lee-Enfield, and I can shoot it better because of the sights.

There were several M39's at the Syracuse, NY gun show this weekend (1000 tables).  They were going from $250 to $300, but were not as nice as the one I picked up for $130.

I improved the rear sight on mine by making it into a peep sight by making a new leaf (easy to do) to replace the notched one.  Now I can actually see the sights, which is a big aid to accuracy!  The original leaf can be replaced in just a few minutes.

I recently picked up a mosin from an individual for about $100. After I got it home I did a little research and discovered I had a 1931 m27. I think I got one heck of a deal. Poor fellow didn't realize what he had I guess.
