Cabela's Leverevolution Scopes

Just got the new Cabela's Shooting catalogue and in it were three new Cabela's 3x9 variable scopes for $99.99 each with rectical dots designed for 30-30, 444 and 45-70 leverevolution bullet drop ... 100 yrd, 200 yrd etc. Each dot supposedly spaced for the caliber scope you buy. Guess they don't think a fixed power would sell. Don't know who makes their scopes. Would be interesting to find out how close they are to real world shooting but Im not buying one to find out. Don't think that Sweet .17 scope with click adjustments has worked out that well from what I've read.

I don't know about these scopes but my muzzleloader kicked the chitlins out of Cabela's Pine Ridge scopes.
Maybe these are better though.

Yes I'd be cautious myself putting one on a 45/70 unless it was a fixed power. I handload and have only used the leverevolution in my 30-30 mariln for hunitng. I don't think I'd ever try to shoot it 200 yards eventhough it will. So, the scope wouldn't do me any good. Just found it interesting that they thought this ammo deserved it's own scope.

  I use the BSA, Sweet-17 on my Sportster .17HMR.  My experience is that it is right on.  From 100 to 300 yards, if you dial it right it goes exactually were it is supposed to.  For ranges beyond 150 yards I do use a rangefinder.

  I just bought a Burris with those dots for yardage.  Don't know how it will work yet but will let everyone know.  Rog

OK, I guess I'll be the one to ask this.

What barrel length, or rather velocity are these thigns calibrated for? This is especially important with the 45-70 as I have seen it in pistols, 16"barrel rifles all the way out to 34" barrel rifles. The diffrence in a 16" scout lever action and a 34" long range barreled gun is enough to make a diffrence in impact at 200yds by a decent amount.


They may be wonderful, I just have trouble seeing this though with all the variables in ballistics.
