I've got an EMF Hartford carbine in .357.  Ordered it from Calif.  You can get the Web-Site on-line.
I think I would get the short rifle instead of the carbine.  You can get 20 or 24" bbl with half octagon. Drilled and tapped for tang sight.  I really like mine.  These are made by Rossi, mod 92.  I shoot it for Cowboy Lever-Action silhouette.  I think the EMF is a little better finished than the Puma.

I have one in .357 mag. and over all it is a very nice rifle.
It is, however, very particular about the ammunition it likes to
shoot accurately. the lighter the bullet the larger the group seem to get.
I settled on 158 grain JSP's and it shoots them well. It shoots 180 grainers
pretty well as long as velocity is not Max.

guys, thanks for the replies.  i have had such a difficult time finding someone here locally that even knows what i'm talking about, that i think i'll just get a Marlin 1894C and hope it is as good of a rifle as my Marlin in .44mag. thanks again.

If you want the smoothest '92 around then take a look at this site....

www.stevesgunz.com

I havent sent my 16" 45colt to him yet but plan on doing so soon.

Everyone over at levergun.com/forums raves about his work.

You can either buy one and send it to him... Or have him order it for you and do the action job and send it to an FFL nearest you.

Howdy Neighbor, I'm in Azle, just NW of Fort Worth.

I scoured just about all the gunshops in the DFW area looking for a stainless 92 clone. No luck at all. I didn't even find very many Marlins for sale.

I found my blue 92 trapper in 45 Colt at the Fort Worth gunshow last weekend.

Another option is to buy one off the Gunbroker or Guns America sites and have it shipped to a local dealer.

I finally got out to the range with my new Rossi 92 trapper yesterday. Cold and windy, and spitting snow ... not the best conditions to be be shooting in <G>.

I had two handloads and some Buffalo bore ammo to try out. My 45 likes a 255 gr Keith cast bullet over 22 grains of 2400. Even with the lousy weather and crude sights on the 92 I was able to get 2 to 3 inch groups at 100 yards. I'm going hog hunting this weekend, never been before so I don't know the layout but if short range shots are in order the Rossi will get a chance at a hog.

Try Gibson's in Weatherford, I was in there yesterday and they had Rossi/Pumas in caliber ranging from .357 to 454 casul. Blued and Stainless round and Octagonal Barrels.

I thought that too until I loaded some Remington 125 gr. HJHP bullets over a VERY hot load of AA#9 powder for my quite old Puma.  I am not currently rolling that load because it would be dangerous if accidently shot in my Ruger Blackhawk and it stretched cases pretty bad.  But they were very accurate and flat shooting.  I hate to shoot paper groups with a passion but I could hit 7UP cans at 100 yards 9 times out of 10 using a peep sight.

Slight correction

I checked my records lats nite after posting the above reply and found that I was shooting at 7UP cans at 75 yards, not 100. Still pretty accurate.

Hello neighbor!  I'm in Houston and no one here sells them.  I got mine NIB on Gunbroker for a very reasonable price.  Look at their FFL listings and chances are you can find someone to receive it and do the transfer for $25 or less.  Mine is the old model with out the safety and a 26" barrel.  I shoot hardcast lead 180 bullets (factory made) and it is very accurate.  These are fun guns.  Blowtorch

Correction - 16" barrel.  That's the fun part of handling and shooting it.  It's tiny.  Blowtorch
