3 1/2" to 2 3/4" Steel & Lead
« on: January 20, 2007, 12:23:33 PM »
Any press that can go from Goose Loads to Trap Loads easily?

3 1/2 to 2 3/4?

12 & 20's?

Steel or Lead.

Wondering if One press can due all?

Thanks.

You pretty much have to have a press for each gauge and shell length. Switiching over is not a simple task. Adjusting for proper crimps each time you set up would be a real pain.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

MEC makes a couple excellent presses, a Steelmaster set up for 3-1/2 and then add shim plates for your quick change to 3 and 2-3/4 shells. I'd get a 12 AND a 20 press... changing gauge is not real quick and the press are under $200.

All thing are readly available at Precision Reloading or Ballistic Products.

Myself, I have 3 Steelmasters one for 10g 3-1/2 shim to  2-7/8 another one for 12 gauge 3-1/2 and shim to  3 and 2-3/4 another one in 20 g set for 3 and shim to 2-3/4.

Ok, thanks guys for some answers.

Looks like an Steelmaster and shims is a way to start for some 12 ga. reloading.

Seeing more places using steel for trap shoots now a days.

Thanks, again.
