I just purchased a 700 Light Varmit with the stainless flueted barrel. My serial number begins with "S". I don't think this rifle was offered in 1998 (the last S-year). Is it possible the receiver was manufactured in 1998 and the barrel was assembled to the receiver and offered for sale in 2006?
