CVA Firebolt should I shorten the barrel?
« on: January 21, 2007, 05:07:29 PM »
So i've had this since 1997 & its been hunted hard and dents & dings & scratches all over it. I also have a Savage ML10 which has taken its place but its only 2 years old. Anyway I was thinking about cutting the barrel down to about 18" to make a lite ML since its probally only worth $75.00 in the condition its in.  I know it will have more flash & probally more noise but what have I got to lose?

You will also have a lot more of un-burnt powder, and will cut down on the velocity. Other than that nothing.

Thanks Redhawk. I guess I was thinking that the TC BP pistols were cool & with a reduced load it would still generate enough energy to punch thru both sides of a whitetail. I got a quote from a gunsmith in Tulsa for $50. to cut the barrel down. I already have the barrel off and I might consider paying $30. or $35. Might be fun to shoot & plink with a shorter carbine BP barrel.

They are killing deer with the 15 inch Encore barrels without any problems, why not a 20 inch barrel.  ;D
